MASTER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPSTAP MASTER CLASS WITH REGGIO THE HOOFER About the Featured Artist: Reggio is currently the principle tap teacher at the Old Town School of Folk Music. He is a staff member of Dancing in the Parks, sponsored by the Chicago Park District. In 1996, he received a proclamation by Mayor Richard Daley for his work in this program. In addition, Reggio has been recognized as a positive role model by Chicago’s First Lady, Maggie Daley, for his participation in Gallery 37, an after school program designed to educate high school students in the arts. Reggio is the first tap dancer to have been included in this program. Reggio has been featured on educational television programs such as Art Safari, Art Beat Chicago, and Inside Kentucky Schools. He has also been featured in JUBA, a tap documentary that has aired on PBS. As a principle tap dancer, Reggio has been seen in two Duke Ellington musicals, Jump for Joy, and Beggars Holiday. In addition, he has choreographed for and danced in the role of Sammy Davis, Sr. in the theatrical version of The Sammy Davis, Jr. Story. Reggio has been a guest artist in the Milwaukee Black History month performance, We are the Drum, and has tapped solo with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble at the Chicago Tribune’s 150 th Anniversary Extravaganza. Reggio’s charisma and expertise has taken him to foreign countries as far as Switzerland, Japan, Spain, France, and Canada to teach and perform. Reggio, recognized and admired by people everywhere, has made a huge contribution to the world of tap dancing.
